This online course will give you an understanding of software engineering and design with an emphasis on the development of software systems to meet specified requirements. You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage the object-oriented software development process using computer-aided software engineering tools.

When you successfully complete this course you will be able to:

  • Develop and implement a software system based on the software development life cycle
  • Explain the quality management issues involved with the production of software systems
  • Analyse, design, implement, and test a system or change request, according to specified requirements
  • Utilise computer aided software tools, such as Java IDE and a UML modelling tool, for analysis and design
  • Document the resulting software development process
