This online course will give you an in-depth knowledge of relational databases and the skills required for developing a database to meet specified requirements. You will undertake a variety of practical exercises enabling them to apply the concepts and techniques associated with designing, building and managing databases.

What you will learn

When you successfully complete this course you will be able to:

  • Apply advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) to create a database solution that suits given information requirements
  • Apply procedural SQL to create a database solution
  • Discuss and apply data management principles to resolve issues in a multi-user database environment
  • Analyse the influence of database organisation on database performance issues
  • Evaluate components and different types of distributed database management systems
  • Discuss data administration and database administration issues.
