This course will give you an introduction to the theory underlying interaction design and products. You will gain the practical skills needed to develop a critical appreciation of the techniques, tools and theories that influence the design of interactive products in everyday use.

What you will learn

When you successfully complete this online course you will be able to:

  • Explain the essentials of interaction design (ID) and ID terminology
  • Describe the different techniques for involving users in the design of interactive products
  • Explain the importance of iteration, evaluation and prototyping in interaction design
  • Evaluate interactive products and examine a range of practical issues commonly involved in their development
  • Produce a low-fidelity prototype for an interactive product, based upon a simple list of interactive design principles
