This course builds on 77122 Professional Social Work Practice by requiring the learner to reflect on the use of self in real-world practice situations.

Learners will explore social work practice from three points of view: the social work agency; the practising social worker; and users of social work services.

The course includes a consideration of the importance of values and the use of self in social work, including a self-assessment of the learner’s suitability for a career in social work.

Course components include: a three-day practice skills workshop; a student inquiry project into perspectives on social work practice; and 30 hours of voluntary experience in a social service agency.

This course requires you to attend a workshop or noho marae in the Wellington region.
