Effective environmental decision making depends on credible and timely information about the state of the environment. Comprehensive monitoring and reporting systems are therefore essential to environmental management. This course is designed to give you an understanding of the role of monitoring and reporting in environmental management.
You will explore the contribution of monitoring and reporting to New Zealand’s environmental management framework. You will also use your skills to analyse environmental data and assess current monitoring and reporting practice.
Topics covered include:
- the role of environmental monitoring and reporting
- methods and techniques for environmental monitoring
- designing and undertaking an environmental monitoring programme
- analysis and interpretation of environmental data
- evaluation of current environmental monitoring and reporting practice in New Zealand.
