Mechanical Practice 3

MEC3903

This course continues the development undertaken in MEC2901 and MEC2902 and falls naturally into three parts: set tasks to develop specific skills and knowledge, a few broader tasks to develop team skills as well as consolidating the skills and knowledge in part 1, and reflection on the activities and outcomes of parts 1 and 2.  The course has two main topic sections: metrology practical tests and computer-assisted machining.

Travel to Australia

Attending a practice unit at the University of South Queensland (USQ) in Australia is a requirement of this course.

These units are held twice yearly in February and September. You can find out the dates for practice units relating to this course by clicking on this link for USQ: 

Once you have decided on the practice unit you would like to attend we recommend you email us at beng.technology@openpolytechnic.ac.nz so we can arrange your placement with USQ on your behalf. Once we have confirmed your placement, we will notify you and then you can enrol in the course via our website.

To complete this course you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer, reliable broadband internet connection and a data plan able to support online learning such as streaming of videos (including YouTube), downloading content, and writing and submitting online assessments. If you are unsure if your current computer or internet access allows you to complete your online learning with us, please contact us before applying to enrol.
