This online course will develop learner competency in screening and assessment to support the use of effective treatment(s) and intervention(s) for working with addiction and co-existing problems service users. Students will critically evaluate treatment and intervention approaches appropriate to the whānau/client group with whom they are working

Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Critically evaluate the relationship between addictions, co-existing mental health problems, identity and psycho-social functioning.
- Analyse the impact of addiction issues on the lives of service users and their natural supports.
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct a comprehensive assessment of addiction and co-existing mental health problems.
- Analyse national guidelines and practice frameworks regarding the management of risks when working with addiction and co-existing problem (CEP) service users.
