This course introduces a range of research methodologies required by early childhood teachers to be effective teacher-researchers. You are taught skills to critique a range of published research to assist them to engage in research, beginning with the development of an educational research proposal.
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to
- Discuss the characteristics of research and distinguish between major approaches to research
- Identify and demonstrate understanding of key elements of a robust research process
- Explain differences between research methods and methodologies, and critically evaluate the methodology used in selected published research.
- Select the most appropriate methodology for an early childhood research investigation in a chosen area of interest
